These are just a few of my favorite projects from the last few years. Sometimes it’s fun to work on a project that isn’t all form fields and Swiss minimalism.
We’ve all been there.
With tongue planted firmly in cheek, we provided our teammates with this little reward at the end of a long pandemic: a lapel pin featuring a simple seal of a coffee mug wreathed in fire, with the motto hoc bene est, a rough Latin translation of the phrase, “This is fine.” If you know, you know.
Making sense—and fun—of complex processes
The Washington State Health and Human Services coalition, a collaborative effort of multiple agencies providing social services, came to me asking for help explaining their fairly complex IT project approval process. We came up with an interactive game “board” that explained a challenging process in plain and often fun language.
Get the Lead Out
The water crisis in Flint, Michigan, in 2016 prompted policy-makers in Washington State to evaluate the prevalence of lead exposure in the state, including exposure from lead service lines.
I developed this infographic to help leaders and the public understand how lead exposure works and how it affects human beings.
Refreshing the Office of Drinking Water brand
I had the exciting opportunity to refresh the brand of the Washington State Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (ODW). The office regulates and provides technical support to the thousands of drinking water systems across Washington State.
Refreshed publication templates, using colorways to distinguish between consumer, technical, and regulatory publications.
Completely redesigned newsletters, projecting a more professional image for ODW.
A calendar poster to help water systems manage their fluoridation.
Standing up OlySUP
The OlySUP logo.
OlySUP t-shirts for tour clients.
When a former colleague of mine asked for help branding his new business making stand-up paddle boards, I was happy to help. We developed a logo and branding that evoked the Pacific Northwest tradition of outdoor adventure, centered around the Dofflemeyer Lighthouse, a Boston Harbor landmark.
